I bought this in January when I switched to K-5 technology teacher at my public school. I bought second grade and fourth grade in the series and found out it makes a huge difference having a curriculum to use when you're teaching tech. No more wondering how much to push keyboarding or when to start MS Word. It worked so well last year, I'm buying the fourth grade book. I plan to add a book a year. I love the wall posters and the Web 2.0 articles that are included in this edition.
I've taught third grade for ten years and this year, my school wants me to be the IT coordinator for grades K-5. I have never taught technology before, but this series gave me the lesson plans, grading sheets, sample projects, and even pedgagogy (like when and how to teach keyboarding) I needed to do it right. What sold me on the series wasn't so much the projects as the authors told me what to introduce when, so students wouldn't be confused and would learn the technology in the logical order that fit their maturity. I'd recommend it to anyone as a solid kick-off for a tech program for your school. One suggestion: Buy the digital version also so you can project the samples onto a Smartboard. This makes it easy for students to see how to do things.
I like the content of this curriculum; I'm sure I'll use it as a guide. However, I realized quickly that it would be much better to have the digital version from Structuredlearning.com so the links would be embedded. I did order the digital copies for other grades.
