There aren't many tech curriculums out there, but this one beats all I've seen. I use it for K-5 (I could write this review about any of them) and it was easy to follow, each lesson built on the prior ones so students never felt confused or lost. Most tie in with classroom units which is important to me. They support national ISTE standards so I know I'm teaching my students what they need to know about tech. And, there are lots of extras in the K-2 books such as hints on teaching keyboarding, wall charts, explanations for Web 2.0 and more (check the extra pictures at the top--you'll see some of them). I think this is especially good for new teachers looking for a map, but also for more established teachers who just want to be sure they've covered everything. Highly recommended. --Amazon customer
I've taught 2nd grade for six years. Two years ago, we got a new technology teacher who started using this curriculum with the students. This year, I could already tell a difference with students and their tech knowledge. They were more confident, better problem solvers, knew what to ask, knew basics they didn't know before. We have a pod of computers in the classroom and they are much more able to work independently, without my constant attention, now than two years ago. When I congratulated the tech teacher on a job well done, she handed me one of these books. I tell all of my teacher friends to get it adopted in their school. --Amazon customer
It's difficult to find a technology curriculum for elementary school. Sure, there are lots of lesson plans, but what skills do you teach when? That's what I like about this series. Plus, there are a lot of articles discussing the philosophy behind keyboarding, Web 2.0 tools, and more. They've got a blog (Ask a Tech Teacher) that answers any questions you have as you go along. I've gotten help there a number of times. All in all, I made a good decision purchasing this book. --Amazon customer
