I'm a second year information technology teacher who spent last summer trying to prepare a curriculum by scouring the internet. Every website I explored came up short or lacking in scope. Then I discovered this series which has provided instruction for me so I can and have provided a first-class learning experience for my young students. The parents and kids love the book. I highly recommend it to any teacher or homeschooler struggling with finding a viable technology curriculum. It is the perfect how-to series and I hope Structured Learning extends this through sixth grade. --Amazon customer
This is a good tech training program for kids. The lesson plans are easy enough to get in a session. The students don't get confused. They have fun. I teach an hour a week of tech in my third grade class--that's all we have time for. I put a digital version of this book and a print copy on each of the class computers. The kids have to get through one (of the 32) lessons a week. No problem. Each lesson uses skills they've already learned--reinforces them--and adds a few more. Never too much. Lots of samples, rubrics. It's a keeper. Oh--print books are grayscale. Digital's color. Don't get confused. --Amazon customer
My daughter goes to a school that uses this series in their technology lab. She's been using it for three years and I couldn't be happier. She's always showing me how to do things on the computer, fix problems. I used to worry I didn't know enough about technology to help her with writing reports and making spreadsheets, but she doesn't need help anymore. I bought the set for my sister for a Christmas present because her school doesn't use them. I like that it also has discussions on different computer topics so I understand what's behind the thinking. Very good books. --Amazon customer
This workbook is an excellent tool for the third grader. It is simple to follow, and each week's lesson builds upon the previous week's lesson so the kids are not intimidated by all of the tools at their disposal! They learn the fundamentals the hardware, plus key functions in many critical programs...Word, Publisher, Internet. The workbook also keeps it fun for a third grader..the "projects" are fun and many are seasonally timely...I love the Halloween/Christmas/Valentine projects that come home. My son has taught me a few things after using this workbook!!!! --Amazon customer
I teach technology in High School and was ready to spend a lot of time helping my third grader learn computers. however, this book made it so easy for me that I didn't even need to help. by the end of it he was working cheat sheet in math for Microsoft Excel, made a magazine in publisher, wrote a report with pictures in word and did a slide show in powerpoint with music, transitions, and animations. many of his classmates showed similar sucess, i recommend it to any and all parents and schools --Amazon customer
